STANFORD, KY – May 21, 2020
There have been several social media articles published in the past week speculating when school will start back and what it may look like. Because of this, we felt that it was important to share our current plans with our stakeholders as we begin our summer break.
We have no intention of proposing an early start date to the 2020-21 school year. As of today, our plan is to start on the previously approved start date of August 13th. However, we all understand the COVID-19 pandemic is a fluid situation and we will be developing alternative plans, such as a later start date, in the coming weeks using the feedback of our local health department, community partners and our stakeholders.
There also has been no decision on what will be required from students and what a classroom will look like, regarding health and safety guidelines. We feel like making a decision on these things in May would be premature and we’d like more time to evaluate data and decide the best way to keep our staff and students healthy.
The cooperation of our staff, students and families over the past few weeks have been extraordinary. We hope you all have great summer break. We will keep our stakeholders informed as the situation for the next school year continues to evolve.
