Congratulations to Lincoln County High School Sophomore Hayden Byrd for his acceptance into the Governor’s School for the Arts for Drama. The 2024 GSA summer program will take place at the University of Kentucky.
Hayden is active in theater, Educators Rising, LCHS choir and a member of the high school tennis team.
GSA auditions and reviews the commonwealth’s most promising high school sophomores and juniors in 9 different art disciplines. It is designed to be an immersive experience where students can explore artistry, learn about creativity, and build community with fellow artists. Students will be engaging in hands-on lessons, attending workshops and presentations, creating/performing, and going on field trips. Students will learn how the arts interact with broader elements of society and how they can use their creativity to better themselves and their communities.
GSA is an arts education program of The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts. GSA is offered at no cost to the student, and is made available through funding from the state, as well as private fundraising. The value of GSA is over $4,000 per student and GSA alumni will have access to benefits such as college scholarships and direct contact with college representatives from across the country.
