Hustonville Elementary has started a new program called Hard Work Cafe to recognize students each month for attendance, behavior, grades, participation, rule following and promoting positive relationships.
Students do not have to have all of characteristics (listed above) to qualify but must have at least one of them. One student from each home room in the school will be nominated each month and invited to the Hard Work Cafe for a treat, t-shirt, drawstring backpack, cup full of goodies and a few minutes out of class with the other HWC winners!
The Hard Work Cafe is coordinated and sponsored by Hustonville Elementary Family Resource Youth Service Center Coordinator Kendra Mitchell and the students are nominated by HES teachers.
“I’m very excited about this program and getting it started,” said HES FRYSC Kendra Mitchell. “It’s important to recognize positive behavior and this program is able to do that in a fun, unique way. We wanted the students to understand that all their efforts in school, from attendance to behavior to grades, are all praiseworthy.”
The first Hard Work Cafe celebration took place last Friday, when Principal David Ledford got on the school intercom and described the criteria needed, then read the kids’ names aloud. The Hard Work Cafe will meet at the end of each month and is a great opportunity to recognize positive behaviors.
