Grandparent Essay Winner
Henley Caudill is the Lincoln County winner of the "2024-2025 Grandparent of the Year Essay Contest." This contest is an annual event for Kentucky 5th grade students in which they submit essays titled: “MY Grandparent should be the AARP Kentucky Grandparent of the Year".  Henley is a student in Amanda Gay's 5th grade class at Highland Elementary. His winning essay is written in honor of his grandfather, Phillip Caudill.

The essay contest is sponsored by AARP Kentucky and the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association (KRTA).  Henley, his family, and his teacher attended the March 18th meeting of the Lincoln County Retired Teachers Association (LCRTA) where he was awarded a certificate and a WalMart gift card for his winning essay by Jennifer Brogle, LCRTA Vice President.  Henley's teacher also received a gift card.

The essay competition is a unique way to recognize the significant contributions that older Kentuckians make toward shaping the lives and values of youth across the Commonwealth.
