Students in Mrs. Jody Paver’s 8th grade second block class and 6th grade third block class at Lincoln County Middle School have been making quilts to be donated to Orphan Care Alliance.
Orphan Care Alliance will give them to foster kids in Kentucky who are in need this winter as part of its “Everyone Can Do Something” campaign. OCA is based in Louisville, Kentucky, and serves all of Kentucky supporting foster kids and families through counseling, crisis support and collecting donations and matching needed items with families.
“The best thing about this project has been the change I have seen in my student’s behavior while working on this project in class,” said Mrs. Paver. “Our current classroom mission is to help students not be a statistic, to be a loving and caring class and to show others we care. Our class has been very glad to be able to help others in need.”
Mrs. Paver has invited other staff members to stop by this week and sew a few stitches, give encouragement or just check out the quilts.
OCA will be speaking to the classes virtually next week as the project winds down. The quilts will be delivered to OCA during winter break.
