Lincoln County Schools is excited to announce the district has been approved by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) to use an Option 9 program to help develop new teachers.
Option 9 is a new alternative route to certification created during the 2022 regular session of the Kentucky General Assembly that allows a person to complete a bachelor’s degree and initial teacher certification in a three-year period while working in a non-teaching position in a school district. The route requires a district to partner with a college university to develop the program and receive EPSB approval.
Lincoln County and Whitley County were both approved at the October 10th meeting to begin using the program and both districts will be separately partnering with the University of the Cumberlands to develop the program.
