Lincoln County Schools is pleased to announce Dr. Amy Rigsby as the new Director of Early Childhood for the district. Dr. Rigsby has been the principal at Waynesburg Elementary for the past five years.
Dr. Rigsby was a teacher and a special services coordinator for Kentucky River Foothills Head Start before becoming a principal. She attended Danville High School before earning her bachelors degree from Berea College. She then received her masters and rank 1 from Eastern Kentucky University before completing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of the Cumberlands.
“Establishing a solid foundation is essential for the children we serve in our community. Early Head Start and Preschool programs allow for us to do this successfully,” said Dr. Rigsby. “I am proud to be back in early childhood, where I started my career over 20 years ago. We have an excellent program here and am looking forward to expanding it.”
When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family by the pool and playing games. Dr. Rigsby and her husband John have three children, Jackson, Braeden and Maddie. They are very involved with their local church. Her favorite season is fall and she loves anything pumpkin and football!
