The Lincoln County Board of Education approved a new district boundary map for board members at last night’s board meeting. The new district map will replace the existing one on December 1st, 2022, which falls after this year’s election. The divisions within the map for each board member are based on population size and are for school board election purposes only. This decision will have no impact on the 2022 school board election process.

“The existing map was developed in 2007 and did not have clear boundary lines,” said Superintendent Michael Rowe. “We felt like it was important to have clear divisions split up amongst the population of the county so that it was easier to understand and better represent our schools.”

Bluegrass Area Development District was hired to develop the new divisions. They created four different options based on input from the board members, keeping voting precincts the same and getting the population divided out as evenly as possible.

The board ultimately chose option three (pictured below). To view the current map, that will be replaced in December, please click here: LINK
