Lincoln County High School credit recovery teacher Amy Carrier has been nominated for the 2021-2022 National LifeChanger of the Year award. Sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation, LifeChanger of the Year recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 educators and school district employees across the United States who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership.
Carrier was nominated by one of her students for the care and attention she pays to her students and the relationships she builds with them. Carrier works to give students a chance to recover the credits that they have not successfully earned in regular courses. She works with each student to create an individual path to get them to the point where they can pass the course and get on track to graduate. Not only does she do that, but she cares about all of her students. She does this work with a level of care that makes students feel safe and welcome in her space and holds them to high expectations.
"I have seen her work with many of my fellow classmates, and I know that she treats them with respect and honors them, no matter the past choices we've made that put us in her credit recovery class," said the student. “She has a way of pushing students to do their best so they can get the work done. With her, I know that she will not allow me to settle for less than my best.”
