The Lincoln County Farm Bureau Women’s Group made a $1,300 donation to Crab Orchard Elementary School yesterday to be used toward a Tower Garden in Mrs. Manier’s classroom. The donation was presented by Mrs. Thelma Blair, chairman of the Lincoln County Farm Bureau Women’s Group.
Mrs. Manier attended a Kentucky Farm Bureau Regional Teacher Workshop in 2019 as a professional development opportunity. While there, she sat in on a presentation about Tower Gardens by Jennifer Turner. Mrs. Turner reached out to the Lincoln County Farm Bureau Women’s Group Chairman Thelma Blair about possibly funding the project for COES. Mrs. Blair then reached out to Principal Justin Abbott to work out the details of funding this amazing opportunity.
Principal Justin Abbott said, “We're always looking for innovative ways to engage students in relevant learning. The need is always there. On behalf of the students and staffulty at COES, I want to thank Mrs. Blair and the Women's Group for partnering with us in meeting the needs of our diverse learners and making this a reality. This will be impactful for many years to come. We appreciate this investment in our school and our students.”
