Lincoln County Schools will resume normal school operations tomorrow, Tuesday, September 10th, with heightened security precautions being implemented on all campuses. The district has worked diligently with local law enforcement and our SROs and will continue to do so moving forward as more information is available.
After school activities will be permitted to resume this afternoon. Law enforcement will be providing extra security and patrolling as needed.
Full statement from Stanford Police Department:
On Sunday evening, the Stanford Police Department and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with Emergency Management and other agencies, were actively involved in assessing and addressing multiple concerns across the county.
After gathering more information, looking further into the incidents, and consistently communicating with and monitoring situations in other counties, we are confident that there are currently no credible threats or any activities of serious concern that would impact the normal safety of our community.
Over the weekend, we were in regular communication with the school system and fully supported their decision to cancel classes on Monday. This proactive measure allowed us to complete our assessments and we commend the schools for their caution and commitment to the well-being of our community.
We have worked diligently alongside our community partners to ensure all potential risks were carefully examined. Based on the information gathered and continuous monitoring of the situation, at this time, we do not believe there to be any reason for our schools to delay returning to normal operations.
As always, the safety of our residents is our top priority. We will continue to monitor all situations closely and respond swiftly to any new developments. School Resource Officers (SROs) will be present on school grounds as usual, and additional personnel from SPD and LCSO will also conduct patrols throughout the week as an added security measure.
