Highland Elementary Principal Suzanne Montgomery has formally announced her retirement from the district effective June 30th, 2024. She will remain principal at Highland for the remainder of the school year.
“After much prayer, consideration and soul searching I have decided it is time for me to retire,” said Principal Montgomery. “It has been an honor to serve our students and community. There have been many colleagues along the way that I consider lifelong friends. I wish Lincoln County the best in the future and will forever be a Highland Aviator and Lincoln County Patriot.”
Mrs. Montgomery spent 35 years as an employee of the district. During her career she has been a substitute teacher, classroom teacher, instructional coach, building assessment coordinator, gifted and talented educator and a principal.
“Mrs. Montgomery will be dearly missed by her students, staff and the district,” said Superintendent Bruce Smith. “Her dedication to providing a quality education to Lincoln County students has undoubtedly made an everlasting impression on the lives of many people. For that we are very grateful and wish her the very best in her retirement.”
The process for hiring a new principal for Highland Elementary will begin soon so that the new principal can be in place for the new school year.
