Lincoln County High School is excited to announce Levi Rogers as its new head football coach. Rogers, a 2008 graduate of LCHS, has over 14 years experience as a high school football coach including time spent as a head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and quarterback coach, along with working with several other positions over the years.
Levi began his coaching career in 2010 as an assistant coach at Garrard County High School. He then spent seven seasons as an assistant coach here at LCHS where he served one season as the quarterback coach and linebacker coach, two seasons as the offensive coordinator, and four seasons as the defensive coordinator. After his stint at LCHS, Levi accepted the head assistant coach/defensive coordinator position at Southwestern High School where his defense ended the season as the 4th best defense in 5A, only allowing 10 points per game. Last season Coach Rogers was the head football coach at Casey County High School where he led the Rebels to a 5-5 regular season before losing to Central (Louisville) in the playoffs.
Rogers was a standout football player for the Patriots playing in 41 games during his career where he helped lead the team to its last Region Championship in 2007 before losing in the state semifinals to Highlands. Levi is currently the schools third all time career leading passer and held the schools all-time record for career passing touchdowns before being eclipsed this by Sawyer Horton this past season.
“I am thankful for being offered this position and can’t wait to immediately get to work,” said Coach Rogers. “It feels great to come back home. I am excited for the opportunity to return Lincoln County football back into the program it used to be.” Coach Rogers and his wife, Cheyenne, live in Lincoln County with their two young children. He enjoys spending time with his family and golfing in his free time.
Athletic Director Brad Petrey said the school is excited to welcome Coach Rogers home. “Levi has proven himself as a player, an assistant coach and last year as a head coach. He knows what Patriot Pride is all about and most importantly he wants to be here and help restore the program to what it was when he was a player here.”
There will be a meet and greet for players, parents and community members with Coach Rogers Thursday night at 6:30 pm in the Stuart Underwood Auditorium at Lincoln County High School. Coach Rogers will immediately begin filling in his coaching staff and begin off-season workouts with the team.
